Ed Balls, fresh from charming the audience on Strictly Come Dancing, will present the Peter Sellers Award for Comedy at the event next week.

Mayor Sadiq Khan will hand over the Editor’s Award in partnership with Claridge’s, which is this year’s venue for the glittering event.

Treadaway, currently on cinema screens in A Streetcat Named Bob, and Kirby, who plays Princess Margaret in hit Netflix drama The Crown, will present the Everyman Award for Best Film and Anna Friel will hand over the Amanda Eliasch Award for Best Screenplay.

Hollywood actor Danny Huston will fly in to present the New West End Company Award for Best Actress, and Game Of Thrones star Natalie Dormer will hand over the best supporting actor gong.

The best documentary winner will receive their prize from Sir Bob Geldof and NW actress Nikki Amuka-Bird will be there to honour the technical achievement winner. Amanda Nevill, the chief executive of the British Film Institute, will announce the winner of the most powerful scene category.

The ceremony, held next Thursday, will be hosted by IT Crowd star, comedian and director Richard Ayoade. The shortlist was unveiled last week. The Everyman Award for Best Film pitches Andrea Arnold’s road-trip epic American Honey against Bridget Jones’s Baby and Ken Loach’s exposé of a failing welfare state I, Daniel Blake.

Comedian Dave Johns, who made his cinema debut in the title role of Loach’s film, is shortlisted for best actor with Dev Patel for Lion, Hugh Grant for Florence Foster Jenkins and Russell Tovey for his performance as a closeted footballer in The Pass.

Emily Blunt’s performance in The Girl On The Train sees her shortlisted for the New West End Company Award for Best Actress. She is in the running with Kate Beckinsale, for Love & Friendship, Dame Helen Mirren for Eye In The Sky and Tilda Swinton, the star of A Bigger Splash.

The Evening Standard British Film Awards are held in partnership with Claridge’s.
